In exactly 2 months and 21 hours, we will be celebrating our 5th Anniversary here:
If the images look kind of fake…well the first three are. As of now, there are very few “real” pictures of the resort because it hasn’t even opened yet. It’s mostly been computer-generated images depicting what the final resort will look like. The Andaz is slated to open on Sept 1st. Hopefully in a few weeks we’ll get some real traveler photos! Nevertheless, I am super excited to stay here because:
a) We will be in Maui on our actual anniversary (Nov 1st)
b) We will be staying in a gorgeous brand-spanking new hotel (hopefully they work out any kinks before we arrive)
c) We will be staying here using free night certificates – there is nothing better than a free stay at a 5-star hotel!
We’ll be spending 4 nights at the Andaz in Wailea before moving to West Maui. There, we will be spending a week at the Honua Kai resort. Although it is a condo (so no maid service), it still has spectacular-looking pools, a spa that is opening soon, and the very popular Dukes Beach House Maui restaurant. I’ve always wanted to stay here and fall rates have usually been in our favor, so I booked this 1-br condo at a great price via Chase n’ Rainbows. It doesn’t have a fabulous ocean view, nor is it on a high floor, but we’d much rather spend time in the water than staring at it from our room anyways.
In upcoming posts, I will detail a bit of what our plans will be, but so far I have planned…absolutely nothing. We’ve been to Maui before in 2009 and 2010, we’ve done most of the touristy things so we don’t feel the pressure to do any of those activities again. We might throw in the Road to Hana since we loved it the first time, and maybe we’ll try the Kaanapali zip lines – or maybe we’ll just RELAX the whole time – that is unheard of for us because we’re usually go, Go, GO on our Hawaiian vacations. Sure we build in beach and pool time on every trip, but we get antsy if we stay still for too long. That, and I am usually hungry every few hours and am constantly searching for the next best thing to eat.
In the meantime, I’d like to introduce my neice, Eva! Isn’t she the cutest thing you’ve seen in a muu muu? I bought her these outfits on our last trip to Oahu in March 2013 (trip report to come).
Although I think she prefers being completely naked. Babies don’t seem to like clothes.
Her parents: my sister Ming and her husband Marc, went to Maui for their honeymoon in 2010. Maybe they can do a guest post on their trip for my blog? Pretty please?!
Ying and Kevin, you too.
