It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Hawaii since we have no trips scheduled in the near future (booo!) but one can dream, right? Next year is actually our 10-year wedding anniversary so I’m imagining places we can go to to celebrate. The first place that came to mind was the island that started my obsession with Hawaii…Maui! Our first trip together was in 2009 and it was just magical. We rented a convertible, drove the Road to Hana, visited the summit of Haleakala, snorkeled with large sea turtles (honu), and ate some of the best food in Hawaii. I can’t wait to go back!
Visiting the summit of Haleakala for sunrise is a must-do. There are few places in the world where you can stand above the clouds! But beware, it’s cold! So leave the shorts and tanks in your room while you layer on the parkas, hats, and gloves.
One of our favorite places to snorkel on Maui is near Blackrock at Kaanapali beach in front of the Sheraton Maui. You can’t miss the giant black lava rock jutting out in to the ocean. There, you’re pretty much guaranteed an encounter with these beautiful creatures in the calm blue waters.
Maui is beautiful and it has the perfect blend of everything we want on a Hawaii vacation: gorgeous beaches, abundant snorkeling, Aloha spirit, great food, and some of the worlds most beautiful hotels! On every trip to Maui we’ve always splurged and stayed for a few nights at a luxury hotel, from the Ritz Carlton Kapalua to the Andaz Wailea. Where else can you find these amazing resort pools?
Staying in luxury hotels is wonderful but the next step is a luxury beach-front villa…because even for a little while, I could feel like I lived in one of these amazing properties on Maui! The search was on to find some of the best on the island…holy cow, when I came across Luxury Retreat‘s library of villas on Maui, my jaw just dropped. These are some stunning, gorgeous villas in Maui’s most coveted beach-front locations. They even have villas at the Andaz Wailea, which means you could use all the facilities at the 4-star Andaz!
The villas on their site are some of the most luxurious properties in Hawaii, and their Maui beach house rentals range from $995/night for a condo in Makena to $3,290 for a 4-bedroom grand villa at the Montage Kapalua. That may seem like a pretty penny but they all have multiple bedrooms, some with en suite bathrooms, which would be great for groups of families or friends. Plus they all have fully equipped top-of-the-line kitchens, so there really is no need to dine out that buy propecia online in usa much. Spending time on your lanai with some BBQ and homemade poke made from the freshest Hawaiian catch…sometimes even dinner at Mama’s Fish house can’t top that!
My pick for a romantic yet secluded couple’s retreat would be this ocean-view 1-BR gem at the Montage Kapalua. The Montage is an exclusive, luxury resort in Kapalua, located on north west Maui. It’s secluded location beside the Ritz Carlton ensures you have a lot of privacy while still being able to access world class facilities and top notch dining.
If you’re ever in Kapalua a top choice for fine dining is Merriman’s. We had a wonderful dinner there back in 2009, and I’ve always wanted to go back!
For the ultimate family reunion, this beautiful 4-BR Seven Seas house in Kihei fits the bill. The gorgeous pool and patio complete with a grill makes for the ultimate family holiday. Staying in Kihei means you’re close to all the conveniences of home, with supermarkets and shopping all within a short drive.
For the ultimate bachelorette or girls weekend, this gorgeous 3-BR Opal Seas at Baby Beach house in Lahaina will fit the bill. There’s plenty of place to get your tan at the ocean-front pool, and it’s proximity to Lahaina’s Front Street will ensure you’re close to all the action at the most happening street on Maui.
There are tons of bars, shops, and restaurants in Lahaina, and our favorite is the delectable Lahaina Grill. Yum!
And finally for the ultimate trend-setting couples beach house, this gorgeous 2-BR glass-filled beauty in exclusive Napili Cove would be something I would look for. The modern decor certainly makes you feel like you’re staying at the most luxurious hotels, but with at least 3x the space!
Needless to say if you’re looking for the utmost in luxury properties, these places definitely fit the bill. If you’re looking to splurge, then I would start my search here! Now, if only I could win the lottery so we could stay in one of these villas next year! Or maybe some of you could fund our trip. All in the name of research of course. 🙂 I promise lots of pictures and plenty of Maui dining if that wish came true!
